- Salary:
- HCS (Executive Branch): approx. ₹15,600 – ₹39,100 (Level 10)

HPSC HCS Exam Pattern & Syllabus
1. Preliminary Exam (Screening Only)
- Paper I (General Studies): 100 marks, 2 hours
- Paper II (CSAT – Qualifying): 100 marks, 2 hours
- CSAT requires a minimum of 33% to qualify
- Negative Marking: 0.25 marks per wrong answer
General Studies Topics Include:
General Science, Current Events (national/international), Indian History & National Movement, Geography, Culture, Polity, Economy, Mental Ability, and region-specific (Haryana) topics
2. Mains Exam (Descriptive)
- Paper I: English (incl. Essay) — 100 marks
- Paper II: Hindi (incl. Essay, Devnagri Script) — 100 marks
- Paper III: General Studies — 200 marks
- Paper IV: Optional Subject — 200 marks
- One optional subject to be chosen by the candidate
3. Interview (Viva-Voce)
- Marks obtained in Mains and Interview determine the final merit list
